We are beginning a new year of Yoga for Kids/Teens. A great non-threatening exercise and well-being programme for your child.
TUESDAYS at 4.30pm. Leisure Centre, Horowhenua Masonic Village, Queen St, Levin. (The room next to the cafe - go in the first entrance as you drive east on Queen St)
Yoga for kids/teens is a fun way for children to develop important skills in a fun, non-competitive environment. Children often feel pressure at school academically and socially, plus the added pressure of competitive organised sports. It is easy for girls and boys to become overly self-critical, and lose confidence in themselves as they grow and change. Yoga is a great remedy; there is no judgment in a yoga class. Doing a pose 'perfectly' is not the aim of yoga, because of this a child's inner strength and self-acceptance are nurtured. This nourishing atmosphere encourages children to relax and have fun while they develop not only strength, coordination, flexibility and balance, but also body awareness, better focus and concentration, as well as self-confidence.
A regular Yoga practice improves self-esteem, as well as overall fitness, academic performance. There is even a decrease in discipline problems as students felt more relaxed and are more respectful of their peers.
